Carmen Burgess has been singing for as long as she can remember. “My parents told me when I was 5 years old we were at church and they asked me to sing a special. I marched up to the front and notified everyone I would be singing not one, but TWO songs that day.” Her love of music continued as she sang church specials and in school choirs and ensembles. “I’ve always wanted to be an artist but I thought there was no way it would happen. I didn’t have the voice that I heard of other singers on the radio. Plus it just wasn’t practical.” However, she couldn’t get away from her love of music. “I started taking guitar lessons and basic music courses my senior year of college. I was a terrible guitar player but I loved it. I was a little hippie taking my guitar out on a grassy spot and plinking through a song.” Since college, she has taken advantage of every opportunity to perform and write music. In 2009 Carmen was part of a pilot TV show called American is it a Hit? in Branson, MO. Check out the video on the Home page.
