The goal of “America, Is It a Hit?” is to find top hit songs written by talented people who might not otherwise have a chance at stardom.
The show has three categories: Pop, Rock and Country. Each week for three weeks, we will bring in six writers (two per genre) to work with the panelists and celebrity singers to present their song to America. Viewers vote by phone or internet. The winners in each category (Pop, Rock and Country) will advance to the “Showdown Round” in week four. This cycle is repeated two more times and then all nine winning songs (three in each category) are sung by the celebrity guests and voted on in the final (thirteenth) episode. Exciting prizes, including record and publishing deals, will be presented to the writers who wrote the songs America loves.
Here’s how it works on your end:
- You write a song and upload it to this site.
- If we love it, we invite you to audition before our four panelists.
- Get past that hurdle, and you and your song get to be in the show.
- The panelists will be your mentors, helping you tweak your song before the filming.
- A celebrity will perform your song on the show, adding their own style.
- Viewers vote on their favorites and hopefully you and your song advance to the finals.
So get busy, America, and start writing or polishing up what you’ve already written. And the rest of you guys, get prepared to see a killer show and to ask yourself this question, “Is it a hit?” so that you can cast your vote.
